What’s New to the 2013 Home Tour:  Friday Night Candlelight Tour & Party

To commemorate our 40th year, we're introducing a fun, new Friday night event: the Candlelight Tour and Party. Beginning at 6PM, enjoy a relaxed, self-guided, twilight tour through two of this year’s featured homes:  the home at 5125 Swiss built by department-store magnate, W.A. Green; and 5901 Swiss, the former home of W.A. Criswell, the longtime pastor of The First Baptist Church. Take your time touring these two fabulous residences without the usual crowds and hurried pace.

After the twilight tour, join the festivities at the home of Sandy & Mike Holub at 5020 Swiss for "Southfork To Swiss" -- an entertaining evening of cocktails, Texas barbeque, great music and plenty of two-stepping fun based on the legendary nighttime soap opera, "Dallas". Check out some great memorabilia from the original show, including the house itself, which was portrayed in the series as the home of Sue Ellen Ewing's parents! The tour starts at 6PM, the party kicks off at 7PM. Both events are open to anyone 18 years of age or older. So bring yourself, bring your adult friends and family members, and enjoy a wonderful night in the district.

Join us Friday evening, May 10, from 6:00PM to 10:00PM for our kick-off Candlelight Tour & Party.

Fortieth Annual Home Tour:  Saturday and Sunday

This year, two of the homes on tour are celebrating their 100th Birthday, a rare occurrence in our modern and ever-evolving city. Guests can travel between homes on air-conditioned mini coaches, or amble down the avenue in horse-drawn carriages, both provided at no charge. When it’s time for a break, relax and refresh in Savage Park with freshly prepared food and beverages provided by Penne Pomodoro. On the main stage in Savage Park, there will be live entertainment throughout the weekend, performed by area talent. And browse the displays of local artisans who will be showcasing their wares along the median in front of Savage Park.

Mother’s Day Music & Brunch:  Sunday, 11AM - 2PM in Savage Park

A Mother's Day Champagne Brunch in Savage Park on Sunday from 11AM to 2PM will feature entertainment by the Matt Tolentino Band (featuring musicians from The Singapore Slingers), a big-band-era orchestra specializing in music written between 1900 and 1935. A buffet-style brunch, complete with hot-prep chef stations, will be prepared by the culinary artisans at Penne Pomodoro and served al fresco, under the sprawling live oaks in Savage Park.

Brunch tickets are $20 per person. To reserve yours, call 214.826.6075.

Parking at St. Matthew's & Munger Place Church

For the convenience of our guests, there is ample parking available adjacent to Swiss Avenue at Munger Place Church, in the triangle bordered by Munger, Live Oak and Bryan Streets; and at The Cathedral Church of St. Matthew, on Ross between Henderson and Garrett Street. Since St. Matthew's is one of the stops on this year's tour, guests parking there will be picked up by mini busses and shuttled to the the other desitinations on the tour. Guests parking at Munger Place Church can simply walk a block south and start their tour at 5125 Swiss, which is right at the corner of Munger and Swiss. Day-of-event tickets can be purchased at St. Matthew's or at any of the tour homes. Tickets purchased online in advance can be picked up at the Will Call table in Savage Park (see details above, under Ticket Info).

SPECIAL NOTE: Due to Sunday services, tours and shuttle service at St. Matthew's will not begin until 2PM on Mother's Day. Please refrain from parking at either church until after 2PM on Sunday to allow churchgoers access to the lots; park instead on the side streets adjoining Swiss from NOON - 2PM on Sunday.
