August 20, 2013

Swiss Avenue Historic District Association

Minutes of Monthly Meeting

June 18, 2013

The June 18, 2013 meeting of the SAHDA was held at the Great Hall of St. Matthew’s Cathedral.  Treasurer Craig Scheef called the meeting to order at 7:00pm.

Copies of the June 18, 2013 minutes were distributed.  A quorum of 13 was never reached (12 voting members were present) so the minutes and other matters that needed approval were tabled until the next regularly scheduled meeting of August 20, 2013.

Dallas County Medical Society decided to table the sale of Aldredge House.  They have begun to raise money for remodeling instead.  Sandy Brothers will be our contact with the Society and we will probably be able to have meetings there again.

Nominating Committee - It was noted that the 2013-2014 Nominating Committee will need a list of nominees to the SAHDA Board prepared for the August meeting.  Roger Carol, Jody Bowers, Joanna Hampton, Bob Ruckman, Allan Moore, Laura Freeland and Jean Dean are members of the Committee.

Treasurer’s Report - Craig Scheef presented the Income/Expense Comparison by Category Treasurer’s Report for the period of 9/1/2012 through 6/17/2013.  Craig reported that income and expense reimbursement requests are still outstanding so the Home Tour net income is not final but it should be around $92,000.  Approval of this financial statement was deferred until the August meeting.  Craig also noted that a total of $15,800 dispersed as Community Outreach was not reflected in the financial report.

Alliance Against Crime Committee - Craig Scheef reported that at the last meeting the committee increased patrols by 30% and plan to increase patrols 30% more at their next meeting.  The committee is exploring developing a relationship with code enforcement for extra patrols.

Beautification Committee – Marilyn Waisanen reported that Park Department has sprayed the two median beds facing Munger with weed killer and will continue to combat the weeds in those beds.

Park Department has offered their services in preparing a plan for refreshing Savage Park and the bed in front of the gates at Fitzhugh.

Outreach Committee – No new activity.

Social Committee – Cameron Kinvig reported that the Happy Hour at Matt’s was a success and that a summer get-together is being planned for July or August.

The meeting adjourned at 7:20pm.
