Thank you for agreeing to serve as a Block Director or Alternate. You play a vital role in the SAHDA both as a voting member of the Board of Directors and in ensuring that your neighbors are kept apprised of what is happening in the District. This note is simply a reminder of your duties as a block director or alternate. If you have any questions on your duties, please feel free to contact one of the officers.
Your duties include the following:
1.Attend every monthly meeting. If you (the director) cannot attend a meeting, please make sure that your alternate will attend. It is very important that you attend meetings as you are a voting member of the Association's Board of Directors and if enough directors do not attend a meeting, the board will not have a quorum and will not be able to conduct any official business. Meetings are held at 7 pm on the third Tuesday of each month unless otherwise announced. We meet at Aldredge House, 5500 Swiss Avenue unless otherwise announced. Remind residents on your block about the monthly meetings. Meetings are open to everyone and are a good way to meet neighbors and learn what is going on in and around the District.
2.You play an important role in the District's communication system. From time to time, you will be asked to deliver The Occasional and other important information to your block. There could be occasions when it could be necessary to hold block meetings to discuss issues of critical importance to the District and to gather feedback, although in the past, these occasions have been rare. Whether through delivery of materials, phone calls or emails, please help us to keep your block informed!
3.Welcome new neighbors. Please let us know when someone new moves onto your block so that we can deliver a newcomer's kit to them and make them feel welcome. Also, please forward all new or corrected information on your block's residents to the President and the Secretary for use in updating the Directory and our email distribution list.

CONFUSED ABOUT THE ISSUES SURROUNDING THE TRINITY RIVER PROJECT REFERENDUM?
WANT TO LEARN MORE BEFORE YOU VOTE?
On October 23, 2007, plan to attend a forum on the Trinity River Project Referendum for residents and friends of the East Dallas Historic Districts—Peak?s Addition, Junius Heights, Munger Place and SAHD. Both sides of the issue will be represented at the forum—Councilwoman Angela Hunt for ?Trinity Vote Yes!? and former councilwoman Veletta Forsythe Lill for ?Vote No!—Save the Trinity?.
Plan to attend this forum at East Dallas Christian Church, 629 Peak Street, between Worth and Junius.
