About The 2023 Home Tour

The homes on tour this year represent exquisite examples of some of the Early 20th Century's most popular architectural styles. Included in this year's collection will be an elegant and romantic Mediterranean Villa; an extraordinary Jacobethan Revival Manor House; an Italian Renaissance confection with Colonial touches; a pristine French Eclectic masterpiece with Beaux Arts elements; a classically inspired Federal Style; a substantial Progressive Mode abode with distinct Tudor influences; and an unconventional Craftsman Design saved from the wrecking ball to be reimagined and reinterpreted for 21st Century life

Guests can travel between all tour stops on air-conditioned mini-coaches staffed by neighborhood tour guides who’ll share interesting facts and details about The District. Those interested in a more-vintage mode of transportation can amble down the avenue in horse-drawn carriages. Both the coaches and carriages are provided with our compliments, at no charge.

When it’s time for a break, relax and refresh in Savage Park with freshly prepared food and beverages served all throughout the weekend from Hamburger Man with freshly baked desserts from Emporium Pies – plus an assortment of festive Food Trucks offering a variety of menus, including Cousins Maine Lobster, Ruthie's Rolling Cafe, and Kona IceBeverage service will include soft drinks, hard cider, beerand wine.

On the main stage in Savage Park, there will be live entertainment throughout the weekend, performed by area talent. Along the median in front of the park, guests can browse the displays of local artisans who will be showcasing their wares, everything from artwork and custom candles to handmade jewelry, pottery, and handicrafts.

A Special Home Tour Event

Guided History Tours At
Aldredge House

Every Half Hour
Saturday: 12:30PM – 6:00PM
Sunday: 11:00AM – 4:30PM

The Historic Aldredge House, our city's first designated Historic House Museum, sits at the epicenter of the Swiss Avenue Historic District. It remains unchanged, inside and out, from the time it was originally built in 1917. And this year, in conjunction with our Annual Home Tour, the Aldredge House will conduct special Guided History Tours inside the house every half hour.

Home Tour guests will learn about the history of the house, its first owners, and the role it played in establishing Swiss Avenue as the city's first Historic District. Tours will be conducted in groups of 30, every 30 minutes, on a first-come-first-serve basis.

A Rose Garden & A Tribute Sculpture

Guests are also invited to spend time relaxing in the Rose Garden at the rear yard of the Aldredge House where a commemorative statue is installed in tribute to Dallas native and world-renowned architectural historian, Virginia Savage McAlester, one of the founders of the Swiss Avenue Historic District, Preservation Dallas, and Friends of Fair Park.

Refreshments At Savage Park

Some of the city's most popular Food Trucks will be In Savage Park all weekend serving up a delicious assortment of ala carte delicacies for the enjoyment of our guests , including Cousins Maine Lobster, Ruthie's Rolling Cafe, Hamburger Man, Emporium Pies and Kona Ice.. Ala carte food and beverages will be available on Saturday from 11AM to 6PM and on Sunday from 11AM to 6PM.

Entertainment In Savage Park

Throughout the weekend, we will feature a variety of musical entertainment on the main stage in Savage Park. We invite you to take a break anytime during the tour to relax with a cold drink and a snack under the Live Oak trees while you enjoy the scheduled performances.

Back Again!
Our Mother’s Day Brunch
Will Be Ala Carte In The Park

Screen Shot 2021-04-30 at 3.16.34 PM.png

For the first time in the history of the Home Tour, last year's Mother's Day Brunch was held as an ala carte event. And we're continuing that trend for 2023. Instead of limiting guests to one prix-fixe menu provided by a single food vendor, guests can choose from a wide variety of ala carte menu selections provided by an assortment of providers. Pricing is also ala carte so you can brunch as little or as much as you'd like. And there are no advance reservations required. Just come and enjoy whenever and however you please, starting at 11AM on Sunday.

PLUS! A Centennial Celebration!
Join Us For A 100th Birthday Salute
To 6017 Swiss Avenue

You're invited as our special guests, on both Saturday and Sunday at 1PM, to help celebrate the 100th Birthday of 6017 Swiss Avenue, the home of Vanessa and Gary Hoffman one of this year's featured tour houses! We will raise a toast on the front lawn with complimentary light refreshments, including festive Birthday Cookies and chilled Prosecco, while supplies last! Come join us!

Tour Parking

Curbside parking is available on Swiss Avenue and Bryan Parkway except where "No Parking" signs are posted. "No Parking" signs are posted in front of the tour homes, at Savage Park and at other select locations to allow access for the mini coaches to pick up and drop off tour guests.

Overflow parking is available at Munger Place Church

from 10AM to 6Pm on Saturday and from 1PM to 6PM on Sunday

Munger Place Church is located at the intersections of Munger Boulevard, Live Oak, and Bryan Streets. From there, just walk one scenic block along Bryan Street to reach the tour epicenter at Savage Park. Home tour mini busses will not be shuttling guests to or from the church. Parking at the church is not available prior to 1PM on Sunday, due to ongoing church services. All cars of tour guests that are parked in the church lot on Saturday, must be moved from the lot before 7AM on Sunday to provide space for Sunday worshippers to park.
